Parents and Psychedelic Policy: A Plant Parenthood Webinar with Melissa Lavasani

One mother's path from personal transformation to groundbreaking policy initiative in entheogenic medicine

After a powerfully transformative experience using psychedelics to recover from severe postpartum depression, Melissa Lavasani founded the Psychedelic Medicine Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to changing the legislative landscape around evidence-based mental health policy and psychedelic assisted care. Since its founding, the PMC has built bipartisan support in Congress, and in 2020 Melissa authored Washington, DC’s Initiative 81, the Entheogenic Plant and Fungus Policy Act of 2020. The initiative passed with 76% voter approval, the largest ballot initiative victory in the city’s history.

Join Plant Parenthood in a thought provoking conversation with Melissa to explore the shifting legislative landscape around psychedelics, and talk about how parents are leading the way in shaping the next phase of federal psychedelic acceptance. We will explore how policies are impacting parental mental health and the potential impacts of future legislation on families.
