Mothers of the Mushroom - A Plant Parenthood Webinar
Mothers of the Mushroom
One of the most common questions Plant Parenthood receives is: Can I safely use psychedelics while pregnant or breastfeeding/chestfeeding?
Ethical complexities make peer-reviewed, evidence based quantitative research on this topic impossible. So the Mothers of the Mushroom study, led by Mikaela de la Myco, set out to provide a comprehensive answer to this question by surveying more than 400 birthing parents who used psilocybin while pregnant or breastfeeding/chestfeeding. Respondents used the medicine for a variety of reasons, such as mood regulation, emotional healing and enhanced parent/child connection; they reported on its effects for themselves and their observations about the effects on their babies. The stories gathered represent the largest amount of data on this topic collected to date. For birthing parents hoping to make an informed decision on whether psilocybin is right for them during the perinatal period, this study is an invaluable resource.
